Who said Singapore was boring? Singapore may be small, but with a touch of creativity, practically anything can be a splendid idea for a date. Here are the few ideas we came up with.
{1. Have your own Photo-shoot}
You can opt to do a photo-shoot complete with props and costumes at a studio. Since photography is such an in thing nowadays, you can easily get a really cheap deal on Groupon.com. Their prices range from as low as $12 - $15.
But if you're a little bit more adventurous, you can bring your own props and have an equally fun day out at almost anywhere. Some great ideas are the Botanic Gardens, IKEA, Sentosa, a sandy beach or even a random playground. You can even spice things up with a preppy themed photo-shoot or rent a costume for your photo-shoot.
{2.Go Shopping}
If you are getting low on budget this can be a relatively inexpensive fun idea - unless you are unable to curb your shopaholic impulses of course. Go to a shopping mall and pick out clothes for your partner, make them strut around in a catwalk and spam pictures. Think of the coolest poses for each other and at the end of the day, buy your favorite outfit.
Tip: Go to huge department stores e.g. F21, Topshop/Topman, New Look, Pull and Bear etc. to avoid any glares that might be given by small shop owners for wasting too much of their time.
{3.Do the Mall Dare}
Think of weird totally random dares and write them on a piece of paper. Together with your partner, give each dare a certain amount of points based on difficulty. Put them all in a jar and head to the mall. At the mall, do a lucky draw and do each dare. The one with the most points win. Video down funny dares and think really out of the box. Here are some of our ideas:
- Best proposal in asking your partner to be your girlfriend/boyfriend (10 points)
- Demand that Macdonalds cook chicken rice for you ( 8 points)
- Give a fake number to a random passerby of the same gender and ask them to call you maybe (8 points)
- Take a selfie with a security guard (5 points)
Well, you get the idea. Have fun, take lots of pictures and videos and laugh hard :)
{4. Do a sport}
Rock climbing - Knowing your partner will be there to catch you when you fall brings trust to a whole new level. And furthermore, the sense of accomplishment when you reach the top is amazing!

{5. Go on a hike}
Go to Macritchie reservoir together, explore a new trail or admire the architecture at Henderson's waves. Explore Hort's Park, or a lesser known place in Sentosa. Go to upper Pierce or hike to the top of Bukit Timah Hill. Bring a picnic mat and sit down and just soak yourself in nature. You can even end the day watching the sunset in each other's arms :)
{6. Volunteer}
It's always nice to see your other half having fun with children or animals. But it's nicer you do it together and for a good cause too. There are many places where you can volunteer in. The animal shelters at Pasir Ris is always lacking in volunteers, or SPCA.
If you're feeling a little less animal friendly, you can always volunteer to give tuition at Club Rainbow ( http://www.clubrainbow.org/ ) - A charity committed to providing comprehensive help to children who are suffering from a range of chronic and life-threatening illnesses and their families.
Don't know where you want to volunteer? check out SGcares for ideas ( https://www.sgcares.org/public/other/SGCares_P_Home.aspx ).
{7. Do the Penny Game}
Drop off at any Mrt station and ask your partner to choose any number from 10-20. This will be the number of times you flip the penny. Each time you reach a intersection, flip the penny. Heads you turn right. Tails you turn left. Have a date at wherever you end up at.
{8. Bake or cook}
Find a day, go grocery shopping at NTUC or Sheng Shiong and grab your stuff before heading home to make something yummy for each other. Remember to check out the recipes before you jump into anything and make sure it doesn't become a full fledged food fight (though that could be fun - except the cleaning up part)
The best part about baking or cooking together is that you can be sure that the food will taste nice no matter what, unless it is like burnt beyond rescue or something of that sort. But even then, I'm sure the process would have been fun.
{9. Go Coffee Cupping}
Coffee cupping - the practice of observing the tastes and aromas of brewed coffee. A good activity for those who love coffee.
You can go for the coffee cupping at Common Man Coffee Roasters every Wednesday at 2pm.
Address: 22 Martin Road Singapore 239058
Tel: 6363 4695

{10. Learn something new}
Whether it is a new language, or dancing, or even how to drive, it would be fun. Cheering your partner on as they learn, or reminding each other about lessons. It will bring you guys back to your school days ( If you're old and working already - like me). There are some pretty cheap lessons too. Always watch out for cheap deals on groupon so you don't burn a hole in your pocket.
{11.Go for a concert together}
Make sue that it is a genre that both of you like before anything else. The one thing you wouln't want happening is for your partner to be cringing throughout the entire concert. There's something about jumping to your favorite bands along with thousands of other people and screaming to your hearts content that is just so attractive. And the best part is that nobody cares about what you are doing. Everyone is there to have fun, no judgments.
Go the extra mile and surprise your partner with the tickets instead of planning to go to the concert together.

{14. Have a movie marathon}
Download a couple of movies that you and your partner has been wanting to watch. Pitch a tent in a local park or beach and cuddle inside and the movies. Or stayover at your partner's place and pop popcorns and watch romantic movies.
If you're feeling adventurous, play the movie in mute and create your own dialogues.
{13. Do arts and crafts together and go through old photos of your partner}
Make your own photobook and record your memories forever. Looking back on your story, like a movie ticket of your first date or writing your favorite song will definitely bring back great memories.
Looking through old photos will give you insight into a little bit of your partner's childhood. And give you great laughs at geeky they look when they were in high school and how adorable they looked when they were young.
Remember, its not the activity that makes a difference. Its the people. Live, Laugh and Love.
